Yes, your webmaster is still working diligently in his normal fashion. The site is almost 2 years old (first published 7/13/02), but hopefully maturing in a way that adds value to being a member, as well as promoting the club. I thought you deserve another update.
As of early June '04, I thought you might want to know just how many visitors we've had. The following is an indicator of our traffic and growth. This is better than the counter on the home page, as it registers all visitors no matter where they enter the site. It also doesn't double count visitors unless they hang around more than a half hour. You're counted as a new visitor every time you visit the site in a different half hour and as of now we've had over 96,000 visitors. It's possible to get more accurate counts if you use cookies, but your webmaster hates cookies.
Note that our peaks occur in the month of our Show 'n Shine events.
A large part of our traffic growth is due to search engines now being aware of us. Occasionally I look at the site statistics to see what keywords are being used to find our site. Although not near the top of the list, I found "sxx" (an abbreviation I used for Show & Shine XX) accounting for at least 8 visitors this year. I'm sorry to disappoint those who came to our site looking for some sxx, but may b thay shud lern 2 spel.
If you wonder why stuff never disappears from our site, its not because us VW enthusiasts are pack rats when it comes to old VW stuff, (well maybe a little), It's actually because we have a lot of room left so why purge great pics if you don't have to? We currently have over 60 pages using 126 MB of our allotted 200 MB. Hence we're only about 65% of capacity.
I apologize for not getting as many VW icons made as I hoped. Maybe this summer I can get caught up & get more members in the cursor. Send me a picture of your VW & I'll move you to the top of my ToDo list.
More pictures, stories, and interesting links are always welcome, so I solicit your help on OUR website. I’ll help in anyway possible to “make them fit.”
